ASSOCIATES
The Associates meeting is open to everyone who feels a connection with the Redemptorists.
Centred on the imitation of Christ the Redeemer, Redemporist spirituality, ministry and way of life, involves and embraces many people. It is something to be shared.
Redemptorist Associates were launched in June 2007 and since then groups have been formed in many Redemptorist communities around the country.
The purpose of the Associates is to create a space where Redemptorists and lay people can come together on a regular basis to share faith, learn and pray together. Associate groups are open to everyone and newcomers are always welcome.
Two Redemptorists and two lay people coordinate the Associates in each community, working collaboratively in the preparation and planning of each meeting. Some Associate groups meet monthly, others bi-monthly.
An Associates group has been meeting in the Scalacommunity in Cork since September 2007, usually on the third Thursday of each month.
Each gathering has a theme, and in the past year the Scala group has reflected on a number of topics, including St Alphonsus Liguori, Prayer, the Christmas Story, Suffering, the Challenge and call to Community, St Gerard Majella and the Quest for Silence in today’s busy world. These topics have been explored through input, scripture reflection and sharing, film, art, poetry and music. Prayer is central to each meeting. Each meeting finishes with a cuppa and a chat, and there’ve been many laughs and stories shared well into the night!
If you are interested in joining an Associates group, contact your local Redemptorist Community.
The Redemptorist Associates of Scala invite you to join in celebrating this charism in all its richness and simplicity – so that we might know "our Redeemer lives!"
"With Him is plentiful redemption" (Psalm 130:7)
