SCHOOL RETREATS

The Scala Team encourages young people to become attuned to themselves, others and the world around them, while being open to the spirit of Christ in their lives.

The retreat essentially provides the individual with an opportunity to reflect, engage and "realise" a spiritual understanding in the modern world.
Scala facilitates Confirmation, Junior and Senior Cycle students in Bessboro, Cork.

After consultation with both students and teachers, the Scala team devise an individualised/school retreat programme which attempts to meet the students needs

RETREAT POLICY

All school retreats will be delivered at Scala, Bessboro, Blackrock, Cork. The Scala retreat team will facilitate a minimum of fifteen students and a maximum of fifty students on each retreat day.

As team size and preparations depend on the size of each school group, we ask each school retreat coordinator to notify Scala as soon as possible, but no later than five days prior to the retreat date, as to the final number that will be attending.

Each school group must be accompanied by a teacher/school representative while in Scala. Students must be supervised by the teacher/school representative during morning break and lunchtime and must be available throughout the day if needed.

Those who participate in the retreat cannot leave the Bessboro complex unless accompanied by or under the direction of the teacher/school representative.

A non refundable deposit of €100 per retreat day must accompany each booking. All deposits will be acknowledged. This deposit will be deducted from the final school payment. In the event of a cancellation by the school, this deposit is non- refundable. In the unusual event of the Scala team being unable to facilitate a pre-booked retreat, the deposit will be returned.

In the event of any emergency, the school will be contacted immediately. In the event of a medical emergency the school and parents/guardians will be contacted. No medication will be given to a student unless specified in writing by their parent/guardian and/or advised by telephone communication.

MEITHEAL

Through the Meitheal leadership Programme, a small team of young people is empowered to identify needs in their school and to use their own initiative and talents to respond to these needs in a practical way.
Meitheal is an opportunity for each member to grow in awareness of themselves, and in the needs of others.
