Scala Team 2023/2024
Dan Baragry CSsR
Dan is the Coordinator of Scala and is from Limerick City. This is the second around for Dan as he was a member of the Scala Team from 2002 to 2008. He ministered in the Philippines for several years following which he was engaged in parish missions in the South and West of Ireland. Dan completed two terms as Provincial in 2023.
Michael Forde CSsR
Michael is a Redemptorist from Galway and works as a hospital chaplain in a number of the Cork Hospitals. He spent some years working on parish missions in the west of Ireland and a further term in parish work in Brazil. Michael is the longest serving member of the Scala community, moving here in 2000.
Pat Sugrue CSsR
Pat is originally from Caherciveen in Co. Kerry. Pat is a Redemptorist and spent the majority of his Redemptorist life working and ministering in the Philippines. Pat moved to Scala at the end of 2015. Prior to coming to Cork he live in Dundalk where he was curate in the Parish. Pat enjoys reading and travelling.
Megan Sarl
Megan is from Cork City and took part in the Meitheal programme in 2010/2011 as part of the Christ King Meitheal team. For many years Megan volunteered in Scala while studying Youth and Community Work in UCC. She joined the team in 2018 when she was employed as Outreach Coordinator.
Joe Byrne
Joe is from Carrigtwohill Co.Cork and married with two adult sons. He joined our team in May 2011 and is responsible for the landscaping and general maintenance of Scala.
Len Wolters
Len is also from Germany and a current volunteer in Scala. Having completed his education at the Redemptorist College in Bonn he opted for a year out before beginning College. He works in the Solidarity Office and with SERVE.
Gerry O' Connor CSsR
Gerry is a Limerick man and an accountant by profession before joining the Redemptorists. He has served in Brazil and in Cherry Orchard Parish in Dublin and was Vocations Director for a number of years. He is currently the Director of the Redemptorist Solidarity Office bases in Scala and is Vicar-Provincial of the Province.
Leon Masiala CSsR
Leon is a Redemptorist from the Congo. He arrived in Ireland in 2023 to study English and is currently a member of the Redemptorist Solidarity Office based here in Scala which supports social projects in Africa.
Pa Cotter
Pa is from Kilworth Co. Cork and is married with one child. His interests are photography, soccer and scouting. Pa is Scala’s Youth Leadership Development Coordinator with his main role coordinating the Meitheal Youth Leadership Programme. Pa is also responsible for day to day management of the youth ministry team alongside the Scala Coordinator.
Celia Cronin
Celia is from Cork City and joined the Scala team in October 2012. Her role is as Administrative Assistant. Celia is responsible for providing administrative and clerical services.
Manuel Drinhausen
Manuel is from Germany. Having attended the Redemptorist College in Bonn is now a volunteers in Scala for the year. He is working with the youth ministry team, delivering school retreat and facilitating the Meitheal training.
